Sometimes we all need to recharge our batteries and take a short break from the stresses of every day life. Having returned from a very relaxing stay at The Hotel du Vin Poole this is the perfect mini get away that I can highly recommend.
On entering this ivy-clad mansion house I was warmly welcomed and given a short tour of the hotels facilities. I loved the entrance with its grand double staircase.
The hotel is a beautiful Graded II listed Georgian house situated off Poole Quay. The hotel offers the perfect combination of a stunning quay location in the ‘old’ part of the town near to the harbor front, restaurants, bars.
With 38 rooms the hotel is truly a boutique style hotel. I just loved the amazing chandelier (see below) made from 150 crystal wine glasses.
The Rooms:
When we were shown to our bedroom, ‘Grande Dame’, it is explained that each room is sponsored by a winery. Our suite was called the Grande Dame, a quirky and classically styled suite, it was furnished with a rather invigorating monsoon shower and the bed had luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets.
My favorite feature of the room at to be the free-standing bath in the corner of the room, beside the bed was table with gorgeous Miller Harris toiletries, and of course the Nespresso coffee machine.
The Restaurant:
The restaurant is a lively classic French bistro serving the finest classic European cuisine , from our seat we could watch all the chefs in action with the finest local ingredients. We had wine by the glass which allows you to sample new wines and even embark on a voyage around the work in the Laroch wine tasting room. The menu for the evening was Prawn & Crayfish Cocktail then Rack of Lamb served with watercress and confute of tomatoes followed by Crème brûlée.
Weddings:
The hotel has three exquisite event rooms cater for wedding ceremonies or smaller wedding receptions for up to 40 guests. The classically styled Bistro, with open plan kitchen, is the heart of the hotel and is perfect for larger weddings of up 90 guests, with a large courtyard terrace just outside.
The hotel is available for exclusive use bookings. It really is a blank canvas, what it becomes is entirely up to you, just tell them what you need. We will certainly be re-visiting this hotel in the not too distant future.
