About The Roof Gardens
Located one hundred feet above Kensington High Street in central London, The Roof Gardens and Babylon restaurant are truly spectacular.
Originally above Derry and Tom's department store which opened in 1933, The Roof Gardens were the dream child of the vice president of Barkers, Trevor Bowen, who employed landscape architect Ralph Hancock to realise his vision.
There are three themed gardens, with over 70 full size trees, a flowing stream stocked with fish and our resident flamingos Bill, Ben, Splosh and Pecks.
The Roof Gardens employs over 100 talented professionals, every single member goes the extra mile to provide the world class 'Virgin style' service they are renowned for. The Roof Gardens are a cut above the rest, literally.
The Roof Gardens is part of Virgin Limited Edition, Sir Richard Branson's portfolio of unique retreats.
Weddings at The Roof Gardens
The Roof Gardens is a truly exceptional venue and one of London's most beautiful locations. Set on the 6th floor, high above Kensington High Street, with three themed gardens and exotic wildlife such as Flamingos; The Roof Gardens is incomparable. For more intimate weddings, Babylon, located on the 7th floor offers fine dining and panoramic views. Whatever you choose for your special day, our creative Events Team guarantee it will be an unforgettable experience. We can take care of all the details ranging from your wedding cake, photography, flowers, entertainment and fireworks to make your day a truly romantic occasion.
Where else would be better to say 'I do'? The Roof Gardens can accommodate up to 200 for seated events and 500 for receptions and parties. Private Hire is available Monday to Saturday during the day, Monday to Thursday evenings and all day Sunday.
The Gardens
There are three themed gardens sprawling over 1.5 acres including fully grown oaks and fruit trees, growing in just 1.5m of soil, and a flowing stream stocked with fish and wildlife.
Spanish Garden:Based on the Alhambra in Granada, Spain, this garden has a distinct Moorish flavour.
Tudor Garden: This garden is filled with evergreen shrubs surrounded by fragrant lilies, roses and lavender in the summer months, while wisteria fills the air with its delicate fragrance.
English Woodland: This is undoubtedly at its best in the spring months, when thousands of narcissus, crocus, muscari and anemones burst into life.
Here you will also find Bill, Ben, Splosh and Pecks - our four resident flamingos. Don't worry - they can withstand temperatures as low as -10C. We also have a number of resident ducks which all have clipped wings to keep them within the safe confines of our unique habitat.
Dream Winter Weddings October 2011-April 2012
Say "I do" at The Roof Gardens in our stunning indoor venue then enjoy exclusive use of 1.5 acres of themed rooftop gardens. We'll assign you a dedicated wedding executive and provide each guest with a glass of sparkling wine on arrival (and one to toast the happy couple!) as well as half a bottle of selected wine and mineral water per person to enjoy at their table. We'll also treat you to a divine 3-course wedding meal, a DJ for four hours plus we'll give it that extra special Virgin touch to make sure you enjoy every moment of your special day! All for £89 per person. (Minimum numbers apply. Valid on Sundays throughout October 2011-April 2012)
