Birkhill is the family home of the Earl and Countess of Dundee and their family. Guests will very quickly feel at home in the friendly atmosphere. Located on the shores of the river Tay a short distance from St Andrews.
The Earl and Countess of Dundee invite you to share their home...
Lord Dundee is the Hereditary Royal Standard Bearer for Scotland, his ancestors carried the Scottish Banner for William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. Bruce later appointed the Standard Bearer and his successors as custodians of the City of Dundee which lies just across the Tay.
Set in glorious countryside, right on the coast in North East Fife, Birkhill was built in 1780. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens and guests can wander through these and see a number of rare trees and plants. Birkhill is primarily a family home and offers a warm welcome to all that cross its front door.Although we focus on private and corporate groups our accommodation is also available on a bed and breakfast basis and we can also provide private dining for non-resident groups (both strictly by prior arrangement).
Weddings at Birkhill Castle
Birkhill is the ideal venue for a relaxed, romantic wedding. The traditional aspects of the castle provide an ideal backdrop for a more formal ceremony and reception Other guests prefer the informality of the garden, marrying in the tranquility of the rose garden and celebrating in a marquee. We pride ourselves on being very flexible. Allowing the bride and groom to bring their own champagne (or we can supply it if you wish). The day is your own, the castle is for your exclusive use. You can choose a simple buffet or grand banquet, a luncheon or evening dinner - all up to you.
