About Us

Blenheim Palace is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture with over 300 years of history, set in more than 2000 acres of Parkland landscaped by ‘Capability’ Brown. The Palace is also the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, adding another illustrious page to its rich history.

Blenheim Palace was built as a gift from Queen Anne to John Churchill, the 1st Duke of Marlborough, after his victory at the Battle of Blenheim in 1704. The scale and grandeur of the Palace itself reflects that this was built for a victorious leader, with remarkable stonework outside and impressive high ceilings inside.

Today, the Palace is a World Heritage Site, home to the 12th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, and is established as a world-renowned visitor attraction and an award-winning luxury wedding venue.

The Orangery at Blenheim Palace

The Parkland that surrounds Blenheim Palace is vast and boasts incredible views and plenty of picture-perfect locations. A favourite view among couples and guests is just inside the gate to the grounds from the neighbouring town of Woodstock. The view encompasses the Great Lake, Grand Bridge and the Palace itself, and was referred to as ‘the finest view in England’ by Lady Randolph Churchill, Sir Winston Churchill’s mother.

The sheer size of Blenheim Palace gives couples a huge range of options to make their wedding unique, with more than seven venues to choose from. The Orangery, available from 6pm, is licenced for civil weddings, and its high ceilings, huge windows and glistening chandeliers make it a truly romantic space. Many Blenheim Palace weddings take place solely in the Orangery, as the room can be transformed for dinner for up to 200 and receptions for up to 300 guests.

For couples that envision a more opulent wedding, Blenheim Palace offers dinner and drinks receptions in various spaces inside the Palace, including the Great Hall with its 67ft-high painted ceiling, the Saloon which is the State Dining Room and the Long Library, which is one of the longest rooms in any British stately home measuring nearly 150ft.

For couples wanting to continue their celebration inside the Palace, the Water Terraces offer the perfect space for entertainment and dancing, with a terrace that overlooks an array of fountains designed by Achille Duchêne.

Blenheim Palace boasts over 90 acres of Formal Gardens and sweeping lawns, and when receptions are particularly large, the most is made of this space with marquees erected on the Palace’s South Lawn. A marquee is a perfect solution when the number of guests for the celebration exceed 300.
