California Dreaming On A Winter’s Day

California dreaming on a winter’s day…

It’s been a while since we returned from LA, but we’re still California dreaming here at 5 Star Wedding Directory. As the UK evenings draw in, we thought we’d look back at some of our favourite beaches from our time away. If you’re thinking of a honeymoon or destination wedding, here are our top picks – let us give you a taste of sun drenched paradise.

Santa Monica Beach

Santa Monica beach seems to go on forever… At two miles, there’s so much space – gorgeous for long strolls. Acres of white sand, heavenly azure sea and the pier for added entertainment! You can even get married right on the sand, an early morning or late evening ceremony would have the most stunning backdrop.

El Matador Beach

Nestled away 10 miles northwest of Malibu, this utterly romantic beach boasts rocky shores, impressive waves and some of the clearest water in LA. We think El Matador is the perfect spot to enjoy a sunset in one of its hidden coves. Take a bottle of champagne and watch the sun disappear over the horizon with your favourite person.

Venice Beach

We cannot write a piece on LA beaches without mentioning Venice. With its world famous Ocean Front Walk and Muscle Beach, the beauty of the actual beach itself can sometimes get forgotten! Take a bike ride along the bike path, enjoy people watching on the boardwalk, or just relax on the sand. Venice Beach is a hangout for the creative and artistic – so enjoy the colourful characters!

Manhattan Beach

Another classic Californian stretch of golden sand and aqua sea. Manhattan Beach resides close to an area of town brimming with beautiful people, shiny cars and teeny tiny dogs! Venture off the beach and you may stumble into a film crew, but stay on the sand and you’ll be treated to volleyball courts, bodysurfing and don’t forget to visit the aquarium at the end of the pier!

Malibu Lagoon State Beach – Surfrider Beach

With the clue firmly in the name of this beach, get your surfboard ready! If you love surfing, this is the beach for you. This gem of a beach can be found where the mountains meet the sea – such a picturesque location that we just love. It has such a cool vibe, just spend some time chilling out on the beach. And once you’ve finished surfing (or just watching, in our case!), the historic wooden pier is a charming place for a picnic.

We simply adored our time in California and hope we’ve given you a little taste of LA sunshine – enough to encourage you to go and sample it for yourself! Make sure you check out our other LA posts to see what else we got up to out there.
