National Wedding Show Spotlight: Katya Shehurina

In the run up to the National Wedding Show, we’ll be doing spotlight features on some of our favourite exhibitors. First up is London-via-Latvia designer, Katya Shehurina

About Katya Shehurina

Born in Latvia, but adopted by London, Katya Shehurina has been delighting brides with her delicate, feminine, and vintage inspired gowns since 2007. Educated at the prestigious ESMOD Fashion and Design School in Paris – where she studied the art of couture – Katya moved to London to start her own business almost eight years ago. In that short time, she has become an extremely well regarded designer in the bridal market, and beyond.

Katya’s Style

Inspired by 1920s Art Deco styles, and luscious 1950s silhouettes, Katya creates gowns with an authentic vintage vibe. She doesn’t hold back on the retro features, simply hinting at the forms and subtle details; she creates gowns which would not look out of place on a film set or in a theatre. But despite the historic authenticity, Katya’s dresses are eminently ‘wearable’. They are so cleverly and masterfully designed to drape and compliment a woman’s figure, but they are light as air. Shehurina is a true sartorial expert.

Katya’s ethereal and feather-light creations are a must see for any bride-to-be. We’ve picked a few of our absolute favourite’s from the 2015 collection, in the gallery below.
