Interview – The Roof Gardens London

5 Star Wedding Directory wanted to find out more from one of London’s top wedding venues, Private Events Executive France West, tells us what its like to be an event organiser at this top establishment, The Kensington Roof Gardens London.

1. Can you tell me what the most elaborate wedding is that you have organised at the Roof Gardens?

One client recently chose to have a white themed wedding.  They hired a company to arrange all the white draping inside the venue to go with our beautiful white & silver mosaic wall.  Full length white linen table cloths with a white overlay were matched with crisp white linen chair covers and vintage pink, cream & white roses for the table arrangements.  The florist added green foliage to the canopy over the Tudor Walkway and three elaborate pedestal arrangements, again using the vintage pink, cream & white roses.

The clients sipped on Moet champagne and enjoyed delicious canapés in the Spanish Garden followed by an exquisite four course plated dinner served with fine French wines.

The evening carried on in the Silver Bar and in keeping with the theme had white draping, low white tables and poufs for a lounge feel.  Our house DJ kept the guests dancing right until the end of the night.

2. Have you had any unusual requests from brides?

One bride asked me what I thought about ‘I still haven’t found what I’m looking for’ by U2 as their first dance!  Thankfully she was only joking.

3. What do the Roof Gardens provide that other London venues do not?

The Roof Gardens is a very beautiful venue and surprisingly peaceful considering it’s in central London but it helps that it’s so high up, many guests comment on the fact that they don’t feel like they are in central London.  Coupled with the exclusive use of 1.5 acres of themed gardens, it’s a pretty spectacular space!

4. Being owned by Sir Richard Branson, does he ever pop in?

Yes Richard does pop in when he’s in London, he often comes in for dinner at Babylon Restaurant.

5. How far in advance should the bride and groom book your venue?

The summer dates are extremely popular and the bride and groom would need to book at least a year prior to their actual wedding.
