Sparkling Winter Wedding At Lord’s Cricket Ground

After obtaining a civil ceremony license just over twelve months ago, one of the world’s most renowned sporting venues Lord’s Cricket Ground is opening its doors this year for winter weddings.

Housed in the Grade II* listed Pavilion, the Long Room can host upscale ceremonies and wedding breakfasts for up to 200 people, while the Writing Room can be used for more discreet ceremonies. The unique spaces available at the “Home of Cricket” are full of classic eighteenth century charm, and whether grand or intimate, weddings in the iconic building offer guests unrivalled views across the hallowed turf, making for a truly memorable day.

For more laid back receptions, where dancing may be the order of the evening, the Thomas Lord Suite is perfect, offering a blank canvas for couples who want to make their own stamp on their big day.

Renowned for its world-class catering, a wedding at Lord’s incorporates a sophisticated three-course menu choice, which will please even the most sophisticated palates. Puddings are a particular highlight, skilfully crafted by the Ground’s resident pâtissier, Thierry Besselievre. Over-seeing the catering operation is Executive Head Chef, Tim Harrington, who is responsible for ensuring a consistently high standard is delivered.

A dedicated wedding coordinator will also work with the couple at every step, from organising photography shoots to ensuring that messages of celebration are displayed on the famous Lord’s scoreboards.

Jon Robinson, MCC Assistant Secretary (Marketing & Catering), said: “Outside the busy cricketing summer, the close-season presents a big opportunity for Lord’s to deliver memorable events in the Ground’s unique spaces. With winter time weddings becoming increasingly popular, we are proud to present Lord’s as the setting for a fairy tale occasion. Located in St John’s Wood, the Ground offers a feeling of seclusion and tranquillity despite being situated in the heart of London. We take pride in sharing a truly magical day with couples, in this globally recognisable venue.”

Wedding ceremonies at Lord’s start from £1000 + VAT, and receptions start from £110 + VAT per person.

Lord’s will be unavailable for show rounds from 1st July to 22nd August 2012 due to the Olympic Archery taking place. The Lord’s Meeting & Events team will host an open day later in the year so join them then or book an appointment to see the facilities prior to the Olympic period.
