Traditional Eyelashes

As the trends in bridal make-up change throughout the seasons, so too do make-up accessories. One increasingly popular beauty option for many brides this year has been the eyelash extension!

LUSH LASHES GET ALL OF A FLUTTER FOR THE BIG DAY WITH

No longer content with having false lashes that only last for the big day (if that!) beauty editors are hailing the longer lasting and more natural looking eyelash extension which lasts brides through to their honeymoon and after.

Eyelash extensions differ from false lashes by giving brides fabulously natural, long, thick eyelashes which last for 6 weeks or more with regular top ups.  So you needn’t worry about waking up the morning after the big day with an eyelash strip stuck to your cheek...but rather turn over and bat your alluring lashes to your new husband.

Suddenly excited at the thought of Sophia Loren lashes, I decided to try eyelash extensions out for myself.  London based specialist eyelash technician, Abbie Ting, invited me to relax for two hours while she applied a full set.  During this time I was treated to a rejuvenating eye mask which also helped keep my bottom lashes down for the treatment.

As Abbie started the intricate application of adding individual eyelashes, one at a time to my natural lashes, I found myself drifting off to sleep – a combination of relaxing music and the gentle application was somewhat therapeutic.  Before I knew it I was done and voila!diqiquick image

My eyes had turned from caterpillar to butterfly in just a couple of hours yet with an incredibly natural effect.   I was informed to be gentle with my lashes and avoid water and steam for the first 48 hours but after that I was free to swim, ski, bungee...whatever I liked and I would still emerge looking ultra glamorous!  For mascara lovers you will need to purchase a water soluble one as normal mascaras tend to effect the bond.

As I walked out of the door it felt like everyone was looking at me with eyelash envy and I must admit even I hadn’t anticipated how gorgeous they were going to make me feel.  However, the icing on the wedding cake was when I woke up the next day and walked into the bathroom expecting to see my usual panda eyes but was instead greeted by a fresh faced me with what looked liked ready- applied mascara!

After a couple of weeks and countless compliments, my lashes are still on with only a few falling out as my natural eyelash cycle kicks in.  I would definitely recommend having these done pre-wedding and honeymoon or if you aren’t blessed with naturally thick and long eyelashes then they are also a great investment on a long term basis.  As for me I’m addicted and never going back to my normal lashes again!
