If you are after something with a modern feel, there are bridal designers that are based on classic evening wear. You should start your wedding dress search by looking at both options.2) Dress for your timeChoose a dress that will date well, like a good wine. Wedding photographers from the `20s through to the 70s look so wonderful because they reflect the era. Choose something that is telling of today, rather than borrowing from another time. If you are determined to have a vintage wedding dress, don’t do it head to toe. Instead borrow elements and mix it with what is modern now.3) The right shade of white. If bright white does not flatter you, why not embrace colour, this seasons jewel tones in heavy silk satin are utterly sumptuous. Or for a more bridal tone, you could try antique gold, oyster or silver.4) Suit your venueThe location and size of your wedding ceremony should dictate the style of your wedding dress as much as your body shape. A corseted voluminous confection looks wrong in a beach, Likewise a slip of silk will not impress at grand scale wedding.5) Accessorise tell the story of your dressA long vale or a sash at your waste adds something special. Be different you don’t have to wear a tiara and draw on another inspiration. Indian head jewellery is divine.6) Be true to yourself
Don’t feel pressured to think this is the day when you have to look like a princess. Women today have great careers, so why can’t you be a strong and powerful bride? It is important to factoring your personality and lifestyle when choosing your dress.7) Work ItMake a dress design work for your shape... Corsets pull you in and bias cuts hug your curves, while boned shapes cut a neat frame. Don’t use heavy structure if you don't need it.8) Dye itAfter your wedding have your dress altered to dye so you can wear it again, it's a huge investment and it’s a pity to box it away, or plan to give it to a future daughter. After all she should be dressing for her own personality.9) Window shop
Try not to have preconceived images of what you want to look like out different styles and talk and listen to your wedding dress designers and experts in the field.10) Made to MeasureWhatever dress you choose you must feel comfortable in it. How else will you have a good time? Ensure you choose the right size and have as many fittings as it takes, then stand up straight walk proud and be confident.
