New for 2013, The Beach House at Iruveli Maldives invites guests on a unique excursion in to the heart of a local community on a neighboring inhabited island, where budding chefs will learn to make a selection of authentic Maldivian dishes with the local women that know them best.
The focus is on immersion in local culture in its natural setting with a strong emphasis on story-telling and traditional craft. Travel by dhoni boat to a real Maldivian house on an inhibited island along with the resort’s Maldivian chef Naxxa. A great ambassador for Maldivian cooking, Naxxa regales stories of his childhood and home life while enchanting guests with some of his Grandmother’s recipes. Along with local Maldivian women, he gives a hands-on demonstration on the use of spices and techniques in the making of colourful dishes such as Rihakuru Adhi Valhoa Mas (bread fruit in rice accompanied with local chili paste, fish extracts and smoked tuna). The half-day Maldivian Cooking Class costs US$470.00 per person, minimum two people, plus government tax and service charge.
Luxury operator, The Holiday Place is offering seven nights at this idyllic five-star resort from just £1,599 per person (saving £700 per person with an additional £700 of complimentary value-added activities per couple). Valid for selected departures from April – June 2013, the price includes accommodation in a luxury water villa with a private pool on a bed and breakfast basis, flights from Gatwick with Etihad Airways and seaplane transfers from Malé. Complimentary activities include one jet lag massage per person, free water sports and one free trial dive (subject to availability) as well as non-alcoholic mini bar beverages throughout the stay.
A stunning private island retreat fringed by powder white beaches, coral reef lagoons and a lush jungle-filled interior, facilities at The Beach House at Iruveli Maldives include three fine dining restaurants, an extensive spa, five-star PADI dive centre, 18-hole golf simulator, fitness center and three swimming pools.Tags: honwymoon in Maldives
