The couple exchanged vows on Sunday 9th October, at Old Marylebone Town Hall in front of a small congregation of around 30 guests, before moving on to a bigger celebration the couple’s house in St John’s Wood where they were joined by 120 guests including friends, Ronnie Wood and Kate Moss amongst other big names.

Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell

Nancy, 51, is from New York and is heiress to a haulage fortune. She is Sir Paul’s third wife after Lynda McCartney died in 1998 and his split from Heather Mills in 2008.

Both Nancy and Sir Paul wore outfits by daughter, Stella McCartney. Nancy was every bit the sophisticated London bride in an understated ivory long sleeve dress with pearl buttoned front. Her small bouquet of roses were quintessentially English with hues of pink, cream and white. The look was finished simply with an ivory flower in her hair which was worn down. Sir Paul was dressed in a dark blue suit, white shirt and contemporary pale blue tie. The subtle mauve flowers in his lapel were a nod to his bride’s bouquet.

After the ceremony, guests were invited back to the couple’s north London home which was said to have been transformed into a fairytale setting of pink flowers and fairy lights illuminating the dining area. Friends and family were served a vegetarian feast of salad, lasagne, goats cheese polenta and dumplings followed by passionfruit meringue tarts and mixed berries.

Drinks included the Dumangin Grande Reserve champagne. After dinner, Sir Paul gave a speech which he half read and half sang lyrics to a song he had written for his new wife, they then both took to the dancefloor for their first dance, a recording of the song Paul and Nancy. DJ Mark Ronson also entertained guests through to the early hours with classic beatle’s songs. The couple emerged the following day – both with sunglasses on – giving testament to the good time that was had.
Sir Paul and Nancy are expected to fly to New York on Wednesday for a blessing at a synagogue, and then to the Hamptons for a second gathering, before a honeymoon in Antigua.
