Cupcakes Or Traditional Stacked Cake by Janet Mohapi-Banks

Your choice of wedding cake is an important factor in dictating the feel and formality of your wedding day.  If your wedding is a black tie occasion, cutesy cupcakes with tall buttercream swirls might look out of place with the glamour and sophistication of the venue and attire.  Likewise, an ornately decorated tiered cake might not fit in with a shabby chic garden party.

This, of course, does not exclude the cupcake from the glamourous and sophisticated wedding, nor indeed the stacked cake from the relaxed garden party wedding.

Cupcakes can be covered in sugarpaste with delicately crafted sugar flowers and intricate piping that makes them so much more than the humble cupcake they started out as, although if your budget can stretch to it, miniature cakes will always be the more sophisticated choice.

The more traditional stacked cake can be as simple or ornate as you would like. From simple iced designs of ribbons and pearl drops to highly decorated works of art, your stacked cake can be designed to fit in with your day. If you choose to have a stacked cake at your shabby chic garden party wedding, why not have a cake that is covered in nothing more than sugar daisies on ribbon that cascade down the naked tiers. The epitome of simplicity and relaxed elegance.
