24 February 2011 Marriott Hotels is celebrating romance, love and marriage with a nationwide search for wedding poems. Poems play a special part in wedding celebrations and Marriott is keen to share the nation¹s love of waxing lyrical by creating a collection of poetry that reflect modern marriage and weddings. The best poems will be selected by the editor of Poetry Review magazine, Fiona Sampson, and poet Matt Harvey, for inclusion in a book of Marriott Love Poems.
The search is seeking verse from anyone inspired by love and weddings, whether they are frantic fathers-of-the-bride, blushing brides or guests who simply love weddings. Poems can be anything from short and sweet limericks to carefully crafted prose and should evoke the emotions around weddings whether it is romance and excitement, nerves or joy.
Marriott hopes that all different types of weddings are reflected through the poems, from traditional religious ceremonies to ethnic weddings and civil partnerships. The poetry collection will capture the sentiments felt by all members of the wedding party and their feelings in the run up to the day, as well as the event itself. The best poems will be published in a book of Marriott Love Poems to be distributed across the 54 UK Marriott Hotels and Country Clubs.
The writers of the best poems will also be invited to spend a romantic weekend at one of Marriott¹s luxurious Hotel & Country Clubs, some of the most beautiful wedding venues in the country. Poems should be submitted online at www.marriottlovepoems.com or in writing to Marriott Love Poems, Nylon Communications, 19a Floral Street, London WC2E 9DS. The closing date for entries is 31st March 2011.
